First, ensure that you have someone to help you out of bed. You will need the services of a a home health aid or some other professional, but if you can have your spouse, friend or family it will just be ok.
The second step is to get sitted up in bed, then gently remove the covers and sheet out of your way, there by avoiding any trip on with covers.
Thirdly, lift up your legs and place them on the edge of the bed. Allowing them to dangle over the bed. Make sure you listen to your body and mind as you carry out this activity.
Fourthly, gently test your legs by moving or swinging them, rotate your ankles and wiggle your toes. If no dizziness then get to the next step.
The fifth thing is to gently stand up with feet slightly apart. This gives you stability then you can gently walk to a near by chair.
On the chair turn to your back as if you want to sit down, then touch your calves against the chair.
Lastly, hold firm both of the arm rests on chair and slowly lower your body into the chair.
