Weight Loss Surgery Sleeve can also be referred to as a bariatric surgery sleeve in medical terminology. This is a group of gastrointestinal surgical methods which are carried out on different patients who suffer from chronic morbid obesity. These are persons who are at least 100 lbs over weight or who has a body mass index of 40 or more for above five years.
With this gastrointestinal surgical procedures, weight loss and other life threatening disease such as type II diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, degenerative arthritis and many more. All the above mentioned disease are taken care of when one has taken a weight loss surgery sleeve.
Due to the fact that other conventional weight loss methods such as diet control, exercise and weight loss medications have failed, weight loss has been seen to be the better alternative to achieve the so much desired results. Especially in the case of morbid obesity and should be noted here that a weight loss surgery sleeve is not a cosmetic procedure like a liposuction but a medical procedure.
weight loss surgery involves two basic approaches. The first is a restrictive procedure, that facilitates the reduction in food intake per meal but normal absorption is not interfered with. There are basically two types here namely lap band surgery and gastric bypass surgery. The second weight loss surgery being malabsorption procedure which aids absorption of calories from the food by an alternative process of digestion.
Like any other surgery, weight loss surgery has the general risks being a major surgery and with its complications, there are symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, weakness, hernia, gallstones and nutritional deficiencies that come up after a weight loss surgery.
